Zorah Wines

Zorah's vineyards sit in the Vayots Dzor Valley, two kilometres from what archaeologists say is the oldest winery in the world, dating back 6,100 years. Every bottle is a direct line to the birthplace of winemaking.

Zorah works exclusively with native Armenian varieties, some of them nearly lost. Many of the varieties are on the verge of extinction, so the estate propagates new vines from surviving cuttings. Areni Noir, Voskéat, Garandmak, Sirenì — these are grapes with thousands of years behind them and almost no presence on shelves outside Armenia.

At 1,400–1,600 metres of elevation, the conditions are extreme in the best way. The altitude gives cool nights and a long growing season, with harvest not until the end of October, in a very dry climate with intense sunlight and stony, low vigour soils. The result is freshness, depth, and precision.
